At Desert Creek Ranch we keep things simple: irrigated fields, a reliable Central Oregon climate, and a focus on high‑quality alfalfa plus grain and grass hay. Everything we raise is feed—a staple for cattle and dairy herds near and far.

  • We raise premium alfalfa alongside grain and grass hay, producing roughly 8,000 tons of hay each year. The crop is baled into compact 3×4 blocks that stack tight and travel well. Careful timing, clean fields, and a short cure window keep the leaf in the bale, so nutrition stays where it belongs—in your feed

  • Our hay is sought-after, with exports reaching California and overseas markets like Japan and South Korea.

  • Our water comes from the deep Southern Ochoco Mountains aquifer. To use it wisely we’re:

    • Upgrading to low‑pressure, high‑efficiency sprinkler packages

    • Installing flow meters on every pivot

    • Tracking usage season‑to‑season and adjusting as we learn

    It’s a running project—each year we look for new ways to grow more with less.

Healthy soil grows better feed. In 2024 we partnered with EarthOptics to map every acre and turn data into action.

  • TruNutrient™: Multi‑modal sensors and selective ground‑truth samples give us a precise read on macro and micro nutrients—potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus, pH, and more—so we feed only what the crop needs.

  • TruTill™: Pinpoints compaction from equipment traffic before it cuts into yield.

  • TruCarbon™: Measures on‑farm carbon stocks with sensor‑based accuracy, supporting future offset and inset programs.
